Orchid Poaching

Ms. Peter's is holding what is left of people that come up into the forest to cut down orchid plants from trees and raise them in town to sell to tourists. It is very illegal but the people are so poor that they need to make money to support their families.

Hi Mrs. Winzeler, this is Seth R and I was just wondering if Anh has gotten enough information to convince the government of Vietnam to not build the new town so it doesn't hurt or kill the species that live on the part of the land. And I was also wondering how you were doing and If you were having fun .We all miss you and can't wait until you come back.

Hello Ms. Winzeler. Why is it so illegal to take the orchid and sell it? Is like a protected flower species? Also what does it look like when it is blooming or was it already in bloom? Do the butterflies pollenate it or something and is it part of a tree or a bush?

love,
MATT f

Hi Ms. Winzeler, it's Addison F. in third block. I just wanted to ask a few questions about your trip. For the picture in Orchid Poaching, is that a real bone or just a tree branch? Another question is, how is the project coming along and what are you studying currently? Another question is what do the towns look like? I bet it is very unsanitary and there are a lot of people! This question is for Viet, what is your class studying and what is your favorite subject when he was in school? I just wanted to ask you a few questions and I hope your trip is going well and I can't wait till you come back.

P.S. Remember the peanuts!

From Your Favorite Student,
Addison F. =)

Hi Ms. Winzeler its Andrew Chappell from third block. How is it in Vietnam? Are the houses there small? Is the scenery lovely? And are they going to build a new town but,if they do is it it going to hurt the butterflies? Is it hard to call at like 12:00 at night because of the limited energy resources? Where did you find that moth caterpiller? I saw the photo happy Winzler what butterfly type was that? How was the fog there? Type back to your fav student

That is so sad, some people have to take the beautiful pictures and poach them? How sad! How much do they make (not that I ever would poach them, I am just curious). Also, why is it illegal to poach the flowers?
