Pretty Boy
The species name is Parantica Sita. It looks similar to the one that I am holding in my blog photo. But very common. It's a boy. The males have smaller bodies. The females have a more wide abdomen. Can any of you guess why?

All 3 blocks had the answer to your question "why do the female Parantica Sita butterflies have wider abdomens than the males?"
Of course, so they can hold the eggs!
We went online to find out more about this Pretty Boy and came across an abstract of Lien's work. The kids felt a personal connection!
This butterfly is sooooo pretty! I have been logging on to your blog in Mrs. Godwin's class, but I just showed my dad and mom (Odette Arnold, PTA president). I can't wait to log on again and see more pictures of other types of butterflies! Good luck catching them! Have a great time and stay safe! -Maggie Arnold
Hey Ms.Winzeler, are the butterflies cool? Did you catch a lot? I wish I was in Vietnam instead of school. I don't like the tests. You must be having fun. Write back soon.

Ms.Winzeler,
Did you name this butterfly? Or was it already named before you found it?
It looks huge! Is the butterfly really that big in person?
